Decorative Furniture Painting. January 5, 2013

Hello there!,

I can’t think of anything better to do on a cold, wintry day, than to paint furniture! I do a lot of that, these days! In fact, I recently told a friend that I think we could have world peace, if everyone had a paint brush in their hand. Don’t you think?

The last few days, I’ve been trying my hand at some new techniques.

I have a motto, “If it doesn’t sell, re-paint it!” Such is the case with this little table.

I use the stencil for the lower shelf and hand-painted the dots all by myself! 🙂

There’s a wonderful new product, by Maison Blanche, called Glacage. It’s a product that allows you to add texture to a piece, whether you brush it on or use a stencil.
I started with an old cabinet door, that I found in a yard sale.

First I taped the stencil onto the center panel. Then, I used a spatula and applied the Glacage over the stencil.
Once that had dried, I painted the piece and dark waxed it.

Isn’t it great? I used the same technique on this drawer front.

More fun than a barrel of monkeys!

Hope you are doing well!,

Barbara

Thanks Donnamae!, So far, so good! I feel like I’m using building blocks, trying to create the kind of place I’d like to visit. I really enjoy explaining all the options for painting, to visitors. Do you paint furniture?

No, never have…don’t have any room for more either..but, love the look, so there’s always the possibility! 😉

I was painting something in my house yesterday, and all I could think was how much I hate it, and how much of it I seem to do for someone who hates it so much!! I’m jealous – I wish I enjoyed it, but i just don’t!

Hello there!, I have a lot to learn, but find it very relaxing. (As long things are going as hoped!). I don’t do walls, but give me a piece of furniture and I’m happy. Thanks for stopping by!

I wish I could take all the credit, but it’s the product, not me! 🙂
